W.I. cricketers return
NZPA-Reuterßridgetown, Barbados The West Indian test cricketers. Desmond Haynes and Malcolm Marshall, previously named as possible participants in a rebel tour of South Africa, have flown back to Bridgetown from Australia. They arrived on Wednesday night to a welcome from about 100'cricket fans and relatives who had been worried about the possibility of their taking part in the present rebel West Indian tour of South Africa. The opening batsman. Haynes, and the fast bowler, Marshall, both of whom were playing and
coaching professionally in Australia and who were originally named for the rebel team, told reporters that they were back to play cricket. Haynes said: '“I was made an offer (to play in South Africa) but I would not have been happy. I have come home to play cricket. I don’t want to talk about it (South Africa).’’ Another Barbadian who was also playing*in Australia, the fast bowler.. Hartly Alleyne, arrived in Bridgetown a few hours before Haynes and Marshall. Alleyne had also been named as a possible member of the rebel West Indies team.
