Woody Allen in book of religious quotes
NZPA-Reuter London The American comedianplaywright, Woody Allen, is quoted alongside popes, archbishops, and ancient philosophers in a new book of religious quotations. “If only God would give me some clear sign — like making a large deposit in my name at a Swiss bank,” Allen, whose wit has dominated American humour since the mid-19605, is recorded as saying in the “Hodder Book of Christian Quotations."
Above Woody Alien's entry ,-;i appear the words of the thirteenth century Italian * j author of the “Divine Com- « - edy,” Dante Alighieri: “Doubt charms me no less than -•«'? knowledge.” A spokeswoman for the publishers said Marshal Tito, Joseph Stalin, and the French singer, Charles Aznavour, were among other ® * twentieth century personalities in the 4000-item collection. The ancident philosophers include Aristotle.
