Bike-rider rescued by helicopter
An injured motor-cyclist had to be lifted out of a ravine by helicopter after he crashed 20m down a cliff into a creek on Saturday. Terry Flint, aged 22, of Kaikoura. crashed into the ravine in the Hundalee Hills about 10.30 a.m. on Saturday. The -Kaikoura police said that the accident happened north of the Conway River on State highway 1 about 35km south of Kaikoura.
A helicopter was called from Kaikoura and it was able to land in the riverbed abot 50m from where Mr Flint crashed. Mr Flint was taken to Kaikoura Hospital with a broken arm and a broken leg and was transferred to Christchurch Hospital yesterday. He was reported in a satisfactory condition.
