General forecast: A strong westerly flow should continue to cover the country, with cool showery weather in the west of the South Island, and some hail in Fiordland and Southland. There should be isolated showers in the west of the North Island, and some showers should spread at times into south Otago and Dunedin. Over the rest of the country it should be mainly fine. Gusty west or northwest winds should prevail in many places, up to gale force about Cook and Foveaux Straits. District forecasts: Canterbury: Strong gusty westerlies inland reaching the coast at times; mainly

fine and mild, but showers about the Alps. Marlborough: Mainly fine and warm but some showers at times in the western ranges; strong gusty north-westerlies, and warm. Nelson: Mainly fine but scattered showers about the western ranges; fresh westerlies. Buller: Fresh gusty westerlies; occasional showers and fair intervals. Westland. Fresh cool west or south-west winds predominating with occasional showers and fair intervals. Outlook: Fine in Canterbury. Marlborough and Nelson except for showers in the Alps and Nelson's western ranges; showers in Buller and Westland.
