Appointees would initially be required to be located in either Auckland or one of the other District Offices for basic training, on completion of which they would be required to transfer to other locations. The Explosives and Dangerous Goods Division is responsible for the administration of the Dangerous Goods Act 1974. which controls the storage, carriage, handling and use of dangerous goods, including most aspects of the petroleum, petrochemical. alternative and indigenous energy undertakings in New Zealand. The Division’s responsibilities in the explosive field include the importation, storage, sale, carriage, manufacture and the practical use of commercial explosives.
