HAVE YOU A MOMENT?
By
WHIM WHAM
I wish People wouldn't say ‘Have a good Day’ — As if They were giving Them away, Expecting Me to be grateful For another Plateful — Should I offer to share It, Replying, ‘Are you sure You can spare It?’ Similarly, I can’t commend The well-wishing Friend Who instructs Me to HAVE a good Week-end - As if his personal Guarantee Were expected by Me — — as if, alternatively, I’d be giving some Offence to Him If my Week-end turns out grim. Today, Sir, shall We hear, ‘Have a good Year’? Or ‘Don’t have a bad One*? (No, thanks, I've just had One!) A Year’s a tall Order? these Days, The future’s a Haze, I’ll settle for an Hour, or next Minute, For what Good I find in It. The Thought isn't new, The Year is, and my Counsel for You Is, ‘Have a Good Moment or Two’! Will That do?
