Highland wedding
There was more than a hint of Eastern promise about a traditional Highland wedding in Edinburgh. The bridegroom wore full highland dress, with the kilt of the Macbeth tartan, and the bride was in flowing white. But the names of the happy couple. Shigeo Suga and Hisako Akayama, the minister’s blessing in Japanese, and the presence of TV cameras showed that it was not quite the usual Scottish occasion. Mr Shigeo, aged 23, an architect, and his sweet-heart had travelled 20,000 km from their home in Osaka for the ceremony at St Colomba’s Church, their prize for winning a TV competition in Japan. — London.
