Kotare Chief Tauranga pick

Special correspondent Auckland With three wins and two second placings from five starts. Kotare Chief has been a model of consistency this season and he looks the winner of the first leg of the T.A.B. double, the Air NZ Handicap at the Bay of Plenty Racing club's meeting at Tauranga today. Teri Lad. once so promising. showed he was approaching better form again when third over 2000 m at Te Awamutu just before Christmas. and he could be the hardest for Kotare Chief to beat.

High Society, a winner of a sprint at Tauranga. is one of several prospects in the second leg of the double, the London Stakes.

Last time. High Society ran only moderately over 1200 m at Avondale on December 18 but the most recent of her other efforts this season were creditable enough, one of them getting her a class two 1400 m at Tauranga in October. She came second, as well, in a class one 1200 at Ellerslie on November 27. Aldeb and Lancome. at their best, would go well, as would Magoli. a winner at Te Awamutu two starts back.
