Chairlift installation
Both the Wanaka ski-fields. Treble Cone and Cardrona, will, have Doppelmayr double-chairlifts installed over the summer. Treble. Cone, which already has two T-bars, now expects an earlier start to the 1983 season. An adult lift ticket should cost $l4. A chairlift will give a tremendous boost to the uphill capacity of the Cardrona field which previously only had a rope tow as its main lift. Work will start next month on the founda-
tions of the $1 million double-chair, which will have a running length of 1200 m and provide skiers with a vertical drop of 350 m. The big developments at the two Wanaka ski areas will take to five the number of commercial ski-fields in the South Island with chairlifts. Tekapo has had a double-chair for several years, Coronet Peak has two long-established chairlifts, a double and a triple, while Mount Hutt put in its triplechair in time for the 1982 winter.
