Fast bowling machine
NZPA London Lancashire Cricket Club has installed a fast bowling machine designed to give its batsmen practice against bouncers and short pitched bowling. The machine cost more than £lOOO and according to the coach. John Savage, it can deliver bowling as fast as Michael Holding or Jeff Thomson.
"One of the young players. lan Cockbain, was batting the other day and a short one flew up and hit him on the back of the neck — he was unhurt but this is the kind of practice that our batsmen really need because there are so few English fast bowlers capable of bowling with the same venom as the West Indians or Australians." Mr Savage said.
