M.P. in House by January
Parliamentary reporter The member of Parliament for Southern Maori, Mrs Whetu Tirikatene-Sulli-van, will not be back at work until January. Mrs Tirikatene-Sullivan has been absent from nearly all of this year’s session of Parliament after she was injured in a car accident near Christchurch in May. Although she has been able to' keep up with much of her electorate work at home in Wellington, pain and limited use of her arm and neck have prevented her attending Parliament and travelling around her electorate, which
covers the bottom half of th< North Island and the whok of the South Island. Mrs Tirikatene-Sullivar said that she was in the las phase of a complete reco very from her injuries anc would not suffer any lasting disability. She had kept uj with her paper work and wa: looking forward to resuming her electorate travel ant duties early next year. Her first appointments would be the opening of ; new meeting house at th( Raupunga marae in ..Wairoz and, on January 25, th< annual pilgrimage to the Ra tana Pa, near Wanganui.
