NZPA-Reuter Cape Town The rebel Sri Lankan cricketers were sliding towards a crushing defeat at the end of the third day of their final, four-day match against a South African XI in Cape Town yesterday. The tourists, needing 381 to avoid an innings defeat, were 200 for six in their second innings at the close, after the South Africans had declared their first innings at 663 for six. Scores: Sri Lankan XI 282 and 200 for six (Hobson 3/47). South Africa 663 for six declared (Cook 112. Seeff 188. Pollock 197; Perera 2/154).
