Win before delayed suspension
The Wingatui jockey. Ali Robinson, started on a period of suspension after he rode The Vision to victory in the last race at Tapanui on Saturday. He was suspended for one riding day by the judicial committee of the Canterbury Jockey Club on Friday, but was allowed a stay of penalty until after Saturday's racing to avoid inconvenience to owners and trainers of horses Robinson had been engaged to ride at Tapanui.
■ Robinson was suspended after being found guilty of careless riding on Smart Bijou in the highweight at Riccarton on Friday. Smart Bijou finished first but was relegated to third behind Dentine and Fairway Lass. Robinson's riding period of suspension includes next Saturdav's racing, which means he will be unable to continue his association with Clansman when the Riccarton colt runs in the Avondale Guineas.
