N.Z. water polo team named
Lindsay Scott, of Christchurch, will be the temporary New Zealand water polo coach early next month. He was appointed to the position by a meeting of the New Zealand Water Polo Board, with the long-term appointment, Ken Mark, of Wellington, not available to go to Australia. Mr Scott's team includes one new senior international, Brendan Horan, of Whakatane, but currently in Sydney, though the team is a far cry from that which competed in the world championships in Guayacquil, Ecuador, four months ago. Of the Canterbury contingent in that team neither Richard Clark, John Koens, and Gary Campbell had indicated their availability; and Stephen and Nigel Ward could not be considered because of their supensions. Two other world champion-
ship players not able to be considered were Stephen Williams (Wellington) and Phillip Montgomery (still in the United States). Two other Canterbury former internationals not available were John Davie and Lachie Marshall. The team thus includes only one Canterbury player, Martin Forbes, while Otago’s Jeff Conroy plays his club water pblo for Hutt. Ross Paterson, formerly of Wellington and now residing in Auckland, will captain the team and another Sydneybased player in it is the very experienced international, once of Canterbury, Mark Harding. Mark Grooby (Auckland) and seven Wellington players complete the team. They were Grahame Duffy. Paul Dyson, Chris Jarvis, John Gallagher, Robert Borgers, Neil Watson, and Alan Hesketh.
