Suburban cricket scores similar

All the four teams batting first scored between 160 and 200 when the sixth round of the senior A suburban cricket competition began on Saturday. Batting first at Barnett Park, Sumner reached 178 with Tony McKendry top-scoring with 42. He was ably supported by Roger Campbell who made 36. Ken Taylor was the most successful Woolston W.M.C. bowler, finishing with four for 39. Woolston W.M.C. batted badly to be all out for 118. 60 runs behind. John Graham was responsible for five of the wickets, at a cost of 51. For Christchurch W.M.C., Kevin Williams scored 51 and this greatly assisted to the side to reach 197. Bill Campbell bowled capably to claim six wickets for 44 runs. When stumps was drawn at Hoon Hay Park, the home side was .45 for one. At the close of play at Sheidon Park. Belfast was in a very good position, at 81 for two after dismissing Upper Riccarton for 162. The best batting for Upper Riccarton came from Wayne McWhirter, who made 48. Graham Gadsby. with six for 60. was the bowler responsible for Belfast's good showing.

At St James Park. MerivalePapanui won the toss and gave first use of the wicket to Harewood. It scored 167 with Kevin Smith contributing a valuable 56.
