Bionic Adios likely to gain second win of the week

By

G. K. YULE

Bionic Adios, one of the more talented horses in the slower classes in Canterbury, should be untroubled to overcome his handicap of 10m and win the D.B. Waimate Cup at the Waimate Trotting Club’s meeting tomorrow.

Bionic Adios'came back to racing after a lengthy lay-off with a runaway win in track record time at Methven on September 25. He was sore and was unable to reproduce the same run at Ashburton a week later, after which he was put aside again. Last Saturday he showed remarkable dash at Methven. which brought him into strong favour for this event. Once more he will be driven by Robert Cameron. Double Cove gained his fourth success in style at Washdyke on Tuesday, overcoming a slow start and an awkward run. In a' battling finish he won narrowly but well, suggesting that his extra handicap of 10m will not be enough to keep him out of this finish. Miss Bromac could be one of the leading chances. Her seventh at Washdyke on Tuesday was a sound trial for this event. She missed the start and made up much leeway over the final stages. She will appreciate the extra 600 m at Waimate and from her wide draw she should get under way better than when she started from No. 1 on Tuesday. The consistent Garrymite, Elderberry, Joy Boy, Wai Eyre, Doctor Bailey and Templar are others capable of Adding interest to the finish. Boulder Creek. Winfield Kai and Colonel Whiskers have all paced sound races lately and they should be as good as any in the second leg. the Town and Country Club Handicap, which will also be run over 2600 m.
