Hardie Impey sales up
James Hardie Impey. Ltd. earned an unaudited group net profit of $4,536,000 in the six months to September 30, the directors have announced. The comparative result for 1981 was $3,919,000. but because of the merger of the New Zealand subsidiaries of James Hardie Industries. Ltd. Australia, with Phillipps and Impey. Ltd. on September 1. 1981, the half-year of the company was changed from February 28 to September 30. It was not possible to make a completely accurate comparison between the results for the six months to September 30 and those for the previous half-year, they said. However, the results of the companies within the group
had been compiled for the six months to September 30 and these indicative figures have been used in comparison with the results for the latest six months. All companies within the group traded profitably and forward orders indicated a satisfactory profit for the year, the directors said. Sales rose 18.3 per cent to $47,463,000. and after expenses the pre-tax trading profit was ahead 19 per cent to $7,435,000. The result was after pro-, viding $602,000 more for tax at $2,763,000. Extraordinary losses totalled $136,000 ($170,000 previously). An interim dividend of 6c a share (12 per cent) has been declared payable on January 17.
