89 still in cup
PA Auckland The Twinkle was a notable omission for the D.B. Auckland Cup, at Ellerslie on New Year’s Day when first acceptances were taken by the . Auckland Racing Club yesterday. Of those nominated for the premier event, 89 remained in the event. The Twinkle finished second to Chimbu in last season’s event, but her trainers, the Dennis brothers, of Southland, have The Dimple entered this time. Auditory, a fellow South Islander, has also dropped out of the field, as have Shivaree, Gun For Fun, Speculation and Epilogue. First acceptances also closed yesterday for the Avondale Cup and the New Zealand Derby. Shivaree, Speculation, and Epilogue are ; also missing from the big Avondale event, to be . run on December 15. Other emissions include Magistrate, Riccardina, Kiwi, Turanganui and Chief Joseph. Second acceptances for the D.B. Auckland Cup and the New Zealand Derby close on December 22.' Second acceptances for the Avondale Cup close on December 9.
