‘Bad taste’ video game
A row has broken out in Britain over a Japanesemade video game showing babies plunging to the ground from a blazing building. Angry mothers and politicians have called for the game to be withdrawn. More than 200,000 have been sold in Britain. Players have to manoeuvre a stretcher to catch the falling babies. If they fail, the infants explode and an angM soars up the
screen. The Minister of Consumer Affairs. Dr Gerard Vaughan, said that the game was "in extremely bad taste.” He had persuaded one mail-order firm to stop selling it, but at least one member of Parliament is pressing him to order a national ban. A spokesman for the British importer said, “It is no worse than many of the other video games available. This is one of our most popular games.”
