ICL w.p. system
ICL showed off a new word-processing system at the Local Government and Public Works Exhibition in Auckland last week. Although not yet formally released in New Zealand, visitors to the exhibition were given a sneak preview of the ICL Wordskil 8801 system, the first model in the Wordskil 8800 range. The Wordskil 8800 range will be a range of equipment for the office environment based on ICL’s Distributed
Resource System family of small communicating computers. Inside the 8801 is a 16-bit processor with 256 K bytes of memory. It has a ‘ 38cm screen with easy-to-read gold characters. Future developments of (he 8800 range, says ICL, will include automatic filing, correspondence and diary management. information arhiving, retiieval, security, and electronic mail.
