Scott Group
Mr Barney Sundstrum has been appointed managing director of the Scott Group. Ltd, with effect from January 1. This position was previously held by Mr David Scott w;ho will remain as chairman of the group, but, in line with his company’s policy on age for executive staff, will retire as managing director.
Mr Sundstrum, who joined the company in May this year, has recently completed an Advanced Management Programme at the University of Hawaii. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Canterbury and is an Associate Chartered Accountant. He brings to the company wide experience gained in the fields of chartered accountancy, the oil industry, sharebroking and, in recent years, the meat industry. Mr Scott also announced the appointment of Mr Harry Devos to the board of directors and as general manager of the company on the same date.
Mr Devos is a mechanical engineer and has spent a large part of his working life
in South East Asia as an executive in various manufacturing industries. He returned to New Zealand in 1971, taking a senior position in the New Zealand operations of a large international company in the electrical field. He joined Scott Group in 1978 as general manager operations and has been responsible for trading and manufacturing activities in the growth period from that point.
