Road-closing Tor carnival
Truscotts Road in Heathcote Valley will be closed on January 1 and 2 for the Ferrymead Trust’s summer carnival. The Heathcote County Council has also agreed to close the Heathcote refuse tip on those days. ' the carnival will run from January 1 to 4, but the County Engineer, Mr D. J. May, told the council’s works and reserves committee earlier this month that a
four-day closing would be too long. “No parking” signs will be erected on Bridle Path Road during the summer carnival. The council also accepted the recommendation of its electricity committee for a “strenuous” campaign to promote the use of electricity. About 500 car litter bags, 2000 labels, and 2000 cocktail napkins will be bought from the Electrical Development Association for distribution at the council office.
