Damaged plane back in Chch
A United States Navy Hercules which was stranded at South Pole Station for more than two weeks is back in Christchurch for repairs and is expected to return to the Antarctic in about a week. The -Hercules . suffereddamage to its nose-gear as the result of a hydraulic problem on landing at the South Pole for the first time for the 1982-83 season. : • The terminal operations, officer of the United States Naval Support Force, An.tarctica, Captain C. C. Hall, said yesterday that the Hercules had arrived back in Christchurch on Wednesday. The aircraft was undergoing repairs at the Air New Zealand hangar and was expected to be back in service in seven or- eight days. A replacement part for the nose strut was being flown to Christchurch from the United States. ..
