Sharp rise in company wind-ups

PA Wellington The number of companies dissolved through liquidation or being struck off the register last month was about five times higher than in October, 1981. The Justice Department said there wre 1158 company (hot including overseas companies) dissolutions in October, compared with 222 the previous October. Court orders to wind up went to 25 companies, and 22 went into voluntary liquidation during October. For the corresponding period last year the figures were 24 and 17, respectively. Twenty companies were put in receivership, and 17 ceased to act. This compares with 1981 figures of 15 and 16, respectively.!! There were 508 new companies, including six overseas’ companies, registered in October, compared with 547 and three in 1981. The nominal share, capital of 97 companies Was increased; the previous October the figure was 193. The number of companies with decreased nominal share capital was unchanged at two.
