Netball injuries

NZPA London The New Zealand netball team will be without two of its first-choice shooters for its “test" against All England at Wembley today. Margharet Matenga, of Wellington, and Waikato’s Margaret Forsyth are both out of the line-up owing to injuries. Forsyth has a cartilege problem and Matenga has damaged an achilles tendon. “Both these injuries are dead unlucky ones that can happen to a player at any time,” said the coach, Mrs Lois Muir. “It is unfortunate that neither player can line-up on Saturday against England but I did carry extra shooting back-up so it has not meant the team will be let down in any way.” Auckland’s. Rita Fatialofa and Waikato’s Rhonda Meads have both been shooting very well in all games they have played and Mrs Muir is confident of their abilities against the “test” team. The New Zealanders have not lost one game yet in their hectic tour, of England, Scotland and Wales, although on Wednesday against East Region they lost the third quarter and drew the last one — the first time this has happened. Mrs Muir put this down to “travel-weariness” as the team has had to travel extensively to get to matches.
