Jill Goodwin has a lifetime of almost 60 years of experience with the dyeing of wool as a craft, from the age of six growing up on her family’s farm in Suffolk. Although her book is addressed to readers in England, her thorough examination of the history and techniques of dyeing has plenty to say to New Zealand enthusiasts. An extensive plant dye-chart is especially helpful and the author seeks to encourage children to attempt her craft. A wide’ selection of illustrations enhance an attractive, but expensive book.
