• When Parliament continued sitting late on Wednesday evening the Domestic Protection Bill, with amendment, was committed, as was • the Law Practitioners Bill.
Mr R. W. Prebble (Lab., Auckland Central) moved an amendment to the latter bill but it was defeated, 40-37, in a division.
The Sale of Liquor Amendment Bill was passed through ' its committee stages, with, amendment, and given a third reading. It now awaits the Royal Assent to become law.
The House rose at 1.17 a.m.
the Leader of the House, Mr Thomson, tabled amendments to Article 9 of. the 'agreement establishing, the South Pacific Bureau for
Economic Co-operation when Parliament resumed at 2.30 p.m. yesterday. Members tabled six notices of motion.
The Minister of Health, Mr Malcolm, introduced the Hospital Amendment Bill (No. 2) and referred it to the Health and Welfare Select Committee for consideration.
Ministers answered 23 questions.
The House went into committee to debate the committee stages of the Appropriation Bill (the Estimates debate) with members debating the housing vote. The debate was interrupted when the House adjourned for dinner at 5.30 p.m.
Debate on the Housing estimates resumed when the House resumed at 7.30 p.m., and Works and Development estimates concluded the debate on the committal stages of the Appropriation jßill, The bill was passed, without amendment..: ’ ,
