Attractive gallop by Shilling at Trentham

Special correspondent Wellington

The two Trentham mares, Shilling and Divine Style, galloped into calculations for the Wellington Racing Club’s meeting tomorrow when they worked at Trentham yesterday morning. This Wellington meeting carries no major races, so it was not surprising that there were no visitors at Trentham yesterday. However, it is expected that representatives of the Rogerson and McKee stables, in action at Levin on Wednesday, will make the short hop through to Wellington.

The tracks are all fast and work yesterday was done on the inside of the trial and on the deep plough.

Shilling had El Rana for company on the plough and they did well to run 800 m in 49.35, the last 600 in 34.25. It was a good effort. <.

Brian Hibberd will ride Shilling which would probably appreciate a little easing of the ground. El Rana, by Kirrama, is a promising type which did well to get fourth in his Woodville debut.

Divine Style was impressive coming to the finish of 800 m in 47.75, the last 600 in 34.25. The mare has done well since winning at Wanganui last week. She missed at Levin midweek and will be hard to beat in the Lightning handicap. Wayne Jeffcoat will ride her again. Tom Dee and Fountaincourt were on terms after

800 m on the plough, in 52.85. speeding up to run the last 600 in 36.45. The race will be the first for Fountaincourt since he failed in the Huttons last month.

His trainer, Cyril Pfefferle, had him checked out, and after a slight easing in his programme, he has picked up to his trainer's satisfaction. He resumes in the Northland tomorrow with Jim Cassidy up. Poise was given an easy time after racing at Levin over ground on Wednesday. She failed to flatter there and will get another chance tomorrow. ,

John Wayne continues to progress. He sprinted 600 in 36.2 s indicating he is coming to hand well.
