Lost days
Australia lost 750,200 working days through strikes in the March quarter this year, an increase of 93,400 over the same period last year, according to Australian Bureau of Statistics figures. The figures also compare with 1,075,000 working days lost through industrial disputes in the March 1980 quarter. The statistician said that the main disputes were over a log of claims in the coal mining sector in New South Wales where 349,000 working days were lost.— Canberra.
