Porn material intercepted
PA Auckland Overseas church organisations have been used to smuggle pornographic material into New Zealand, says Auckland’s Collector of Customs, Mr Michael Howley. Customs officers had recently intercepted grossly indecent documents in packages, stamped with, the name of, a'church, he said. ' “There was a series of smuggling attempts, but they stopped (when the senders realised ,we knew what was going on,” said Mr Howley.. “Marking envelopes or •packages with the names of well known church or relief organisations is just a ploy to get past the customs screen,” he said. “It supposedly gives an article an aura of being legitimate.”
