New frigate to berth at Kauri Pt
PA ... Wellington New Zealand’s new frigate, H.M.N.Z.S. Wellington, will berth at Kauri Point, Auckland, on December 2. . The Leander-class frigate, formerly known as H.M.S. Bacchante, will then be moved to Devonport naval base for refit preparations. The 18-month modifications will include the installation of a new fire-control system, a new sonar, the improvement of the ship’s radar, the installation of a new general purpose computer, the fitting of torpedo tubes to the flight deck, and. an. increase, in fuel stowage.
