Crosby to defend title
By ROD DEW New Zealand’s most successful international motorcycle road racer, Graeme Crosby, has elected to defend his Daytona 200 title in the United States next March in spite of his recent decision to withdraw from world championship grand prix racing. The brilliant American tuner, Pops Yoshimura, has, offered Crosby a ride on one. .of his very - special fourstroke Yoshimura Suzukis for
the 200-mile race, which Crosby won earlier this year on a Yamaha. Crosby will also ride the Yoshimura Suzuki in the annual Suzuka international in Japan. „ “I’ve got no plans for next season except that I have agreed with my old friend, Pops Yoshimura, to ride at Daytona and Suzuka,” Crosby said. “The only thing that would stop me riding for him would be if I was contracted
for a season of racing in the United States with a factory.” A fortnight ago, Crosby shocked the road racing world by announcing that he would not be returning to face in Europe and also said he had no interest in defending his Daytona title. He finished runner-up in the world 500 cu cm. road racing championship series this year. . -
