Mountbatten Medal
PA Wellington A succession of dives in darkness to rescue four persons from a submerged vehicle has gained Mr Patrick Farge, of Whangarei, the Royal Life-saving Society’s Mountbatten Medal for 1979. Each year the award marks the most gallant rescues from-drowning by an R.L.S.S. member throughout the Commonwealth. It is only the second time the award has gone to a New Zealander.
