Special correspondent Greymouth
An injection of local talent has given a cosmopolitan flavour to the “Golden Oldies Stakes," a non-tote' event over 1100 m to be raced at the Greymouth Jockey Club’s meeting at Omoto on Saturday. The unavailability of "Artie” Stokes means lie will be replaced by Peter Pinnock, a regular rider in recent months at the Greymouth track.
The promotions officer of the Greymouth Club, Jack O'Donnell, yesterday announced the field and allotted riders for the race.
They are De-La-De (A. Cowan), Honourette (D. Wyatt), Synroc (G. Mein), Miss Scenicland (P. Pinnock). Not Us Ho (P. Kempton), Te Mati Tahi (G. Hughes).
Mr O’Donnell also stated that the Matamata apprentice, Lance O’Sullivan, is expected to replace. the suspended Peter Tims in the Air New Zealand Apprentices Championship, which will be run on the second day of the meeting on Monday.
