Index firms, tone steady
The N.Z.U.C. industrial index firmed 0.21 points yesterday, but falls still outnumbered rises on a moderately active New Zealand sharemarket. Ceramco improved 1c after reporting a modest profit increase, and Ernest Adams was steady in spite of announcing an excellent result. Market leaders were prominent in the price changes. Canterbury Frozen Meat lost 10c to 200 c, EMCO Group was down 8c in response to its take-over bid for Healing Industries, and Carter Holt eased a further sc. Arnold and Wright firmed 5c to 505 c, making it one of the highest priced issues on the market.
