Jaycee gains high international honour
NZPA staff correspondent Hong Kong An Otago businessman, Mr Graham Sinclair, has been awarded the Jaycees international outstanding past member award, at the recent world congress in Seoul, South Korea. Mr Sinclair, of Wanaka, whose business interests include aviation, farming, and tourism — he is chairman of the Treble Cone ski-field, Wanaka — is the first New Zealander to receive the award. During his period as an active Jaycee he was New Zealand ' president (1968), world president (1971), and
Chairman of the Jaycees international long-range
planning committee (1974). He accompanied the New Zealand delegation to Seoul
for this year’s congress as part of. an effort by the Christchurch organisers of next year's regional conference to attract registrations from as many delegates as possible. Mr Sinclair said that the award had come as a complete surprise. The Christchurch confer-
ence director, Mr Neil Smith, who is also in Hong Kong, said the award was one of the most prestigious within the Jaycee movement. Recipients were of the highest calibre and it was not automatically awarded at every world congress.
