Anniversary celebration for library
Friends of the Halswell Public Library will celebrate its eighty-fifth anniversary with a party and a bring and buy stall on December 1. The party will be held in the library at 381 Halswell Road and the "friends” have issued an open invitation. The library was formed by a group of local residents on December 11, 1897, and was run voluntarily until 1975 when ’ the Paparua County Council took it over.
The library has retained its community spirit. The Friends of the Library are an informal support, group that raises funds and helps to improve services.
