Husband convicted of manslaughter
PA Hamilton A High Court jury has found Raymond Penetito guilty of the manslaughter of his wife in March. Penetito, aged 37, unemployed, of Ngaruawahia, was remanded on $2OOO bail, with sureties of the same amount, to December 2 for a report and sentence. He was charged with the manslaughter of Huia Penetito, or, alternatively, with assaulting her. The jury in the High Court at Hamilton were told Pene-
tito had argued with his wife at her Ngaruawahia home on March 20, and had hit her about the head with his fist Detective Sergeant W. M. Joyce said that the next day she collapsed in the passage of her home and was in a deep coma when a doctor examined her. She was dead on arrival at hospital. A pathologist, Dr W. Russell, said that Mrs Penetito had about 30 bruises on the body and had died from a haemorrhage resulting from a blow to the back of the head.
