Tasman, which is part of Fletcher Challenge Ltd., employs some 3 000 people in the eastern Bay of Plenty with its activities centering upon the integrated Mill at Kawerau. The operations are on a large scale and generate exports of the order of $350 million per annum. The appointee will face interesting and challenging issues with the key objective of fostering improved understanding and relationships within both the Company and the community. A small team will assist the Public Affairs Executive in performing the .customary internal and external public relations functions. A significant project will be the upgrading of the in-house magazine with more frequent publication. The appointee will report to the Public Affairs Manager but will work closely with the General Manager of Pulp and Paper Operations and other key management members in the Bay of Plenty.
