Photographic repetitions
Making the Most of Colour. Edited by Christopher Angeloglou. Nude and Glamour Photography. Edited by Jack Schofield. Both Collins, 1982. 96pp. $9.95 each. (Edited by Gerard Halcrow) Very little can be said against these two slim but informative books; very , little, that is, except that what they have to say has all been .said before. In the case of Angeloglou’s book “Making the Most of Colour” the entire volume has been lifted verbatim from an earlier book Angeloglou edited for Collins entitled “Successful Colour Photography.”'
However, the deja vu does not end here. The material in both books originally appeared in a series called “You and Your Camera” published by Eaglemoss Publications last year. This repetition has not detracted from the quality of the material, which is an excellent guide for novice or more experienced amateur photographers. However, purchasers should be made aware they are including in their photographic library material that has been well arid truly recycled through the printing presses. Both books are part of a series of six published by Collins. All have as consultant editors internationally recognised experts such as Angeloglou and Schofield, although their contribution to the contents is not actually stated. Other volumes in the series include how to take successful pictures; how to photograph people; creative photographic lighting; and expanding your single lens reflex system.
