Hornby playground

Hornby children will benefit from a new playground

which has been paid for and built by the Wigram Lions Club. . The Lions Club president, Mr Neil Week, will hand over the Goulding Avenue playground to representatives of the Paparua County Council at 10.30 * a.m. today. Club members had spent

about 12 months laying concrete and putting in a bridge, rope ladder, swings, and a sand pit,, said the playground committee’s chairman, Dr R. W. Watson. The Lions Club had asked the council if there was anything it could provide in the community. Members set

up a special committee and considered various projects. Dr Watson said the money came from a raffle and other fund-raising projects. “Members are fairly pleased with the playground, and having done 90 per cent of the work ourselves, we have a real interest in it," he said.
