‘More airport jobs’
Parliamentary reporter More jobs should be created at Christchurch Airport by the shuffle of apprenticeship flight simulator training, said to the Minister of Transport, Mr Gair, yesterday. .•<. Answering a question in Parliament, 1 Mr Gair said that more.■ jobs should be 'created by moving all apprenticeship training io Christchurch/ than .would be lost by the shift of the two flight simulators from Christchurch to; Auckland. About 11 of the 19 staff would be affected -by the transfer of the simulators to a centralised area in Auckland. Mr Gair said yesterday
that Air New Zealand hao decided to centralise all apprenticeship training in Christchurch. The move was expected to outweigh any disadvantage caused by the transfer of the simulators In 1981, 28 apprentices were enrolled at Auckland and 22 at Christchurch. This year there were none at Auckland and 20 at Christchurch, he said.
