Search proved year too late

PA Timaru A helicopter crew and two Mount Cook National Park rangers spent Wednesday afternoon searching for two climbers who left the area a year ago. The fruitless search and rescue effort was prompted by an intention card which climbers leave at the park headquarters so that staff know where they intend to go and when they can be expected back. The card, however was a year old, said Sergeant R, Hendry. How it appeared nobody knew. One of the climbers was eventually discovered at his home and the other, thought to be an Australian, could not be reached.
