Stalemate at Islington
• An industrial dispute at ; the Islington works of Wai>taki N.Z. Refrigerating, Ltd, iis still not resolved, five •weeks after killing stopped on October 15.
The dispute is over the .’company's attempt to cancel •old incentive agreements and I replace them with new ones. ’About 650 meat workers are • affected by the dispute. Their union has been issuing grocery vouchers to those in ;most need. Money for the vouchers has come from donations and levies from -meat workers at'other works in Canterbury and the north of the South Island.
Talks were held yesterday •between the Canterbury ;branch secretary of the Meat ■Workers’ Union, Mr W. R. and the works •manager, Mr G. R. Stobie, but the dispute remained unresolved.
