Drownings increase
PA Wellington There have been 105 drownings in the 10 months to October 31, compared with 106 for the .whole of last year, according to the executive director of the Water Safety Council, Mr Michael Frolich.
The number of drownings involving small boats had’ risen from 19 last year to 34 in the period to October 31 this year. The number- of children aged under five who drowned. had dropped slightly from 24 ‘ to October 31 last year to 18 this year, said Mr Frolich.
