General forecast: South or south-westerlies may spread over the North Island during the morning, fresh in exposed places, with cold showery weather in Wellington spreading up the east coast. Becoming mainly fine elsewhere but a few showers in the west. In the west of the South Island. Nelson and central Marlborough a few showers at first but fine weather soon becoming general. In the east of the South Island cold south-westerlies moderating. Showers but increasing fine intervals.

District forecasts: Canterbury; Cool southerlies, slowly moderating; scattered showers clearing during the day. Nelson: Moderate to fresh south-westerlies; isolated showers at first, otherwise fine and cool. Marlborough: Scattered showers, chiefly about the coast but clearing; cool southerlies, strong at first in exposed places, slowly moderating. Buller, Westland: Remaining showers soon clearing; fine, cool with moderate southerlies. Outlook: Mainly fine in all districts.
