BOS, DEC in micro’s deal

Digital Equipment Corporation and Boston Systems Office, of Waltham. Massachusetts, have announced an agreement whereby the latter firm will adapt its microprocessor development software to Digital's recently announced Professional 300 series of personal computers, and the two companies will market both the software and hardware co-operatively. Boston Systems Office, one of the world's leading manufacturers of. universal microprocessor development software, has development packages for more than 30 families of microprocessors, representing more than 25 manufacturers’ products. By adapting the development software to Digital’s Professional 300 series, it will provide a cheap means for designers and engineers to create microprocessor application programs, says Digital Equipment New Zealand. Microcomputer development software to be adapted to the Professional 300 personal computers includes CA/Micro Microprocessor assemblers, SI/Micro microprocessor symbolic debuggers, object format conversion programs, and upand down-line loading support for selected microprocessors. Collectively, the system is known as a universal microprocessor development system. The Professional 300 series is priced from $6040 plus sales tax. Digital expects their personal computers to be available in New Zealand from January of next year.
