A villa in Merivale at 10 Shrewsbury Street was sold at auction on October 28, for $46,800. The three-bedroom house, in reasonable condition, has a G.V. (1978) of $17,000. It is situated on a 347 sq m site with two street frontages. The auctioneer was Mr Kent Prier. About 60 people attended the sale.
A stone house overlooking Sumner Bay, at 13 Scarborough Road, was passed in at auction on October 28, but sold immediately afterward for $95,500. The two-bedroom home on a 513 sq m section has a G.V. (1979) of $39,000. It comprises a sunroom, lounge and separate laundry.
The auctioneer was Mr I. Stephens, of Stephens Real Estate. About 35 people attended the sale.
A well-maintained, twobedroom house at 37 Redruth Avenue, in Spreydon, was lassed in at auction on October 21, for $37,000. The dwelling which features a sunroom, a dining room, a large lounge, and a garage has a G.V. (1979) of
$19,000. The auctioneer, Mr T. Riseley, of Wrightson NMA, said that a private sale was being negotiated.
A nine-roomed weatherboard “character” home at 49 Hackthorne Road, in Cashmere was passed in at auction on October 27 for $75,000.
' The bungalow-style house features four bedrooms, two sunrooms, a large lounge, a dining room, a family room, and two garages. Together with its 46 perch, wellplanted section, it has a G.V. (1980) of $43,000. The auctioneer, Mr D. Rankin, of Livingstone Auctioneers, said 1 that about 20 people attended the auction, three of them serious buyers. A private sale is being negotiated. A 41ha grazing and cropping block in Hawarden was passed in at auction on October 27 for $125,000. The property, sheltered and sub-divided into 11 paddocks, normally winters 460 stock units and features a two-stand woolshed, an implement shed, a haybarn, and
a hay-lambing shed.
The auctioneer, Mr C. Hooper, of Pyne, Gould, Guinness Ltd. said that about 20 people attended the auction, and that bidding began at $85,000. A private sale is being negotiated. A farmlet featuring a modern architecturally designed four bedroom home was passed in at auction on October 20 but sold immediately afterwards for more than $220,000.
The property, near Bishopdale at 302 Highsted Road, is set in woodland, landscaped and peaceful. The house includes a large living room, dining room, and family room, and a master bedroom en suite.
It was sold by Mr D. McKay. of Manchester Homes, who described it as a "gilt-edged investment.”
A one-bedroom dwelling in need of redecoration at 318 Waterloo Road in Islington was sold at auction on October 28 for $13,900.’ The property, including a 32 perch section, has a G.V. (1980) of $12,000. It is clad in permanent materials.
