General forecast: Fine over most of the North Island at first but becoming cloudy in some western areas and a few showers developing in the afternoon from Taranaki to Wellington. In the South Island, rain on the West Coast should ease to scattered showers. A cool southwesterly change spreading up the east coast with a few showers. District forecasts: Canterbury: Moderate, cool south-westerlies developing during the morning, with isolated showers developing about the coast but becoming fine inland. showers late this morning; moderate westerlies. Marlborough: Mainly fine, but some cloud at times and isolated showers about the sounds in the afternoon; north-westerlies becoming fresh this morning, but moderating later.
