None of the available evidence showed that Canadian pigmeat was being dumped on the New Zealand market, the Minister of Customs, Mr Allen, has told Parliament. Replying to an oral question, Mr Allen said that the Customs Department had been monitoring all imports of pigmeat since There was no evidence to suggest

land. Imported Canadian pigmeat cost more than the New Zealand product, he said. Mr Allen said that representatives from the Pork Industry Council had recently said that Canadian pigmeat was being dumped in New Zealand, but they seemed reluctant to provide evidence on which the department could act.
